PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MEETING The Sheffield Park and Recreation Board meets the third Wednesday of every month at 5:00 p.m. at the Recreation Center. The public is welcome to attend.
The Parks and Recreation Department Staff is always available to discuss any new program, ideas or activities that any Sheffield resident would like to participate in. Also please contact us if you have any problems with existing classes or activities so that we may work together to better serve all our residents.


SCHOLARSHIPS - All park and recreation programs are provided at minimal fees, but no Sheffield resident will be excluded because of inability to pay. Prior to enrolling in a program, the resident should contact the Park and Recreation Director to apply for a scholarship or work program to enable them to participate in a desired program.

RACQUETBALL COURT - limited to Sheffield residents. Participants must reserve the court and reservations cannot be made for more than two weeks in advance. Persons reserving the court must play before reserving the court a second time. The person whose name the court is reserved in MUST play at the reserved time. Play is limited to one hour. Fee is $1.00 per hour per person. Racquet rental $1.00 per hour.
SAUNA - limited to Sheffield residents. Sauna must be reserved. Check schedule for days and times.

WEIGHT ROOM - NO ONE UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE WEIGHT ROOM. Proper attire must be worn. No street clothes will be allowed.

GAME ROOM - NO ONE UNDER 13 YEARS OF AGE MAY USE POOL TABLE. All ages may playwpe5.jpg (9321 bytes) foosball and Ping-Pong.

RESERVATIONS AND RENTAL INFORMATION The Recreation Center is available to any group or individual for meetings, parties or other social events. Rooms must be reserved. A fee will be charged. For more information concerning our hours, classes, activities and rental policies, call our office at 386-5615.

The Michael Center is available to any group or individual for meetings, teas, baby showers, club meetings, dinners, birthday parties, wedding receptions and other social events. The building should be reserved at least one week in advance, if possible. A fee will be charged. Call the Michael Center for more information concerning the hours, rental policies and activities at 386-5618 between the hours of 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday

  1. Registration for all classes and activities will be held at the Recreation Center Monday-Friday during regular office hours.

  2. Classes are limited in size and, therefore, will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. After a class has reached capacity, names will be placed on a waiting list.

  3. AH classes are subject to cancellation due to insufficient registration.

  4. Refunds - A $1.00 fee will be charged to drop a class. Fees will not be refunded after a class has begun. Cancellations must be made 3 days prior to first day of class. If registration does not secure a minimum number required for the class to be held, a full refund will automatically be mailed.

  5. The Recreation Department is not responsible for injury incurred while participating in any of its activities.

  6. Cancellations - In case of inclement weather please listen to local radio stations. Announcements will be made periodically throughout the day of any cancellations. Every effort will be made to notify participants.

  7. Holiday, make-up classes - Classes postponed due to emergencies, holidays or special activities will be made up by the instructor. Classes missed by the student will not be made up.

  8. Participants enrolled in a class and unable to participate due to extreme circumstances will be allowed to enroll in a later class at no charge. Eligibility of participant will be left to the discretion of the program supervisor.
